September 30, 2020 - Nonwovens by Design, LLC is pleased to introduce new services in Quality Management Systems for the nonwovens industry. To provide these services NBD is excited to announce the addition of 2 new Associates, Thomas Connor, ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence and Robert Lightsey, Six Sigma Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, ASQ Certified Quality Auditor. We are now offering a complete review of your quality systems including compliance to ISO/AS/IATF quality standards. This service to will help companies that are trying to control overhead costs, by providing Quality Systems Engineering activities that you may not have be available in-house.
Our consultants could come to your facility and work with your personnel to map your systems, then analyze to identify gaps between your systems and the Quality Standard requirements. We can also offer suggestions and assistance for improving those systems. Whether your intention is to become registered to a standard or not, we can help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of your quality systems. We can review all your systems, or just the ones that are of particular interest to you.
The primary Quality Management Systems covered by these quality standards are listed and described below. We can also offer basic training in statistical techniques and Six Sigma problem solving techniques, and facilitation of project teams.
Quality Manual – Top level document describing the overall Quality Management System
Document Control – Systems for initiating, approving, maintaining, and distributing necessary documents to the point of use. Includes procedures, work instructions, specifications, drawings, and industry and government standards.
Control of Records - System to identify necessary quality records, and define methods and retention time.
Quality Planning and Management Reviews – System that describes management’s involvement in planning and providing resources for the Quality Management System - This includes management reviews of key performance indicators, and the actions taken to improve or correct the trends shown by this data.
Training - System to identify the competence requirements for personnel performing activities related to the quality of products and processes, to insure that all personnel receive the training necessary to perform adequately, and a record keeping system to show that the training has been accomplished.
Design and Development Process – System to control all the activities necessary to determine market requirements, develop the necessary specifications, processes, equipment, and testing necessary to bring a new or revised product into production.
Customer Communication – Systems for receiving feedback from customers concerning delivery issues, quality issues, improvement suggestions, and for communicating issues to the customer. This may also include returned products evaluation and activities, and measurement of customer satisfaction.
Purchasing/Materials – Systems for identifying and qualifying suppliers, for procuring materials for production, receiving those materials, verifying that purchased materials meet specifications, and for reporting discrepancies and control of non-conforming materials. Includes controlling outsourced production, and control of material supplied by customers. Also includes identification and traceability of in process materials and finished products, storage and preservation of materials and finished products, and shipping of finished products.
Control of Production – Systems for controlling the scheduling of orders for production, providing the information necessary to make the products (work instructions, specifications, etc), in process inspections, production equipment, tools, and software. Includes all activities necessary in the manufacturing process to make a quality product.
Quality Assurance Systems - Includes systems for control of monitoring and measuring equipment, internal audits, collection and analysis of data for in-process and finished product quality, continual improvement activities, PPAP and APQP activities, internal auditing, FMEA, control plans, cost of poor quality analysis, statistical techniques (gauge R and R, SPC, Pareto Analysis, etc).
Six Sigma – Training and project team facilitation for problem solving projects using the Six Sigma/DMAIC process.
Other: FMEA, Cost of Quality, Control Plans, Internal Auditing
